Maxwell is pleased and excited to announce that our parent company, DayMen Group in the US, have today signed an agreement to acquire JOBY. DayMen has also distributed JOBY in Canada since 2007 while, as you know, Maxwell has been proud to distribute JOBY here in Australia since 2008.
JOBY designed the now-iconic GorillaPod flexible tripod and has since expanded its brand with the innovative GorillaMobile and GorillaTorch product lines. DayMen and JOBY share a passion for creativity, superior functionality, constant innovation and a commitment to growing the brands we own and the brands we distribute.
In Australia, this means you are now dealing with a supplier who is the brand owner, directly representing three global leader brands. Together we can build the global presence of our Lowepro, Acme Made and JOBY brands, as well as the many outstanding third-party brands we distribute worldwide, and of course, here in Australia.
Separately, we are also advising you of some very substantial price reductions on JOBY
In recent meetings quite separate from the acquisition process, significant price reductions have been negotiated, so the price re-position is a happy coincidence. By making wholesale and end-user prices so much more attractive, this gives you even better attachment opportunities. It's the right thing for today's market, regardless of who owns the brand. Longer term, the logistics advantage this offers will keep us competitive for longer, despite huge cost pressures from a rising Chinese yuan and labour costs.
At Maxwell we are also able to strengthen your accessory business with award-winning lenses from Tamron and Lensbaby, tripods from Japan's No. 1 manufacturer, Velbon, flash light modifiers from ExpoImaging and HonlPhoto and optical filters from Cokin. For now, it is business as usual at Maxwell. But it's with extra pride we'll be bringing our summer programs to you to build profitable partnerships.
